Olly Alexander, the singer from the UK who will be in the 2024 Eurovision, just put out his new song for the contest happening in Malmo, Sweden in May.
The 33-year-old lead singer of Years & Years will be representing the UK in the big singing competition in Sweden after their country won in 2023 with Loreen’s song Tattoo.
Alexander shared that he and British producer Danny L Harle got the idea for the song from their love of 1980s music, like the Pet Shop Boys, British DJ Adamski, and London pop group Erasure.
He told me, “Danny L Harle and I collaborated on a song during the previous summer.”

Olly Alexander’s song ‘Dizzy’ is the UK’s entry for Eurovision
Alexander explained that they wanted to capture a special feeling in their song. They wanted to express how someone can make you feel so overwhelmed with emotions that your whole world feels like it’s been flipped upside down and turned inside out. To illustrate this, they thought about things that could make you feel dizzy, and one of those things was being dizzy from someone’s kisses.
Furthermore, Alexander mentioned that they also wanted to create a sense of magic in their song. They wanted the music to transport listeners to a magical place. He described this place as a world filled with everlasting flowers, stunning gardens, and time that seems to endlessly loop in a state of pure joy and excitement.
Colin Solal Cardo is the director of the music video for ‘Dizzy’, set to come out this Friday at 8 a.m.
Alexander, along with his band Years & Years, has achieved two number-one albums and five top 10 UK singles in the past.
